| Josiah Learns Omnipresence | ||
On May 27th as we were driving to Leatherhead for our first Sunday service as Calvary Chapel Leatherhead, Josiah was quite sad. We asked him why he was so unhappy. For the last four years our church was Calvary Chapel Twickenham. But now that we were starting a new church, we wouldn't be there on a Sunday morning, but rather in Leatherhead. Josiah's response to the question was, "Because Jesus is at the other church." We had always told our children that one of the places we meet with the Lord is at church. Somehow Josiah seemed to think that Jesus went to the church in Twickenham and thus wouldn't be able to make it down to Leatherhead. We told Josiah that Jesus is with us always, and when we told him that Jesus would be in Leatherhead too, a huge grin wiped across his face and he was eager to go to church. I think Josiah now understands that God is not limited by locality as we are. He is with us always as Psalm 139 teaches us: "Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me." |
